BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (SMU) – SMU men's golf advanced to the match play portion of the ACC Championship by finishing in fifth in stroke play at The Club at Olde Stone.
 
The Mustangs came into the day in a tie for fifth place with half a round to complete and a full round to play. They shot 287 in round two, good for one below par and moved them into fourth place. They shot one over in round three to move into fifth place. The Mustangs will face the four seed Clemson in the match play quarterfinals starting at 7:30 a.m. CT on Sunday. The semifinals will follow later in the day and the final will be on Monday.
 
Zachary Kingsland finished in a tie for third place at the Championship. Kingsland was in fifth place when the second round ended. He quickly put himself in contention for a title with a 34 on his first nine holes. He shot even par on the final nine to settle in at seven-under par for the tournament. The finish marked his fifth top 10 showing of the season.  Kingsland has his scoring average down to a team-leading 70.73.
 
Will Sides also registered a top 10 performance with a tied for ninth place finish. He also recorded his fifth top 10 showing of the season. Sides gained six spots in the final round with a 70. Enrique Dimayuga finished in a tie for 22^nd. He shot rounds of 70-72-74.
 
Areen Aggarwal finished in a tie for 58^th with rounds of 73-75-77. Matthew Foster finished up his second round with a 79. Andrew Petruzzelli replaced Foster for round three and shot a 75.
 
The Mustangs return to the course for the match play quarters. The Mustangs lost 4-1 to Oklahoma State in the finals of the Stephens Cup in their only previous match play pairing of the season.
