SMU rowing competes this weekend against Ohio State and Indiana in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, April 4 and Saturday April 5.
The action is set to get underway at 5:30 p.m. ET /4:30 p.m CT on Friday at Griggs Reservoir. SMU competes in the 1v8, 2v8, 1v4, 2v4 and 3v8 on Friday. The final SMU race of the day takes off at 7:00 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT.
Racing continues on Saturday morning with SMU first hitting the water at 8:10 a.m. ET / 7:10 a.m. CT. SMU again competes in the 1v8, 2v8, 1v4, 2v4 and 3v8 on Saturday. The final SMU race of the day, the 3v8, starts at 9:30 a.m. ET / 8:30 a.m. CT.
SMU will face two ranked teams this weekend in the likes of No. 15 Ohio State and No. 16 Indiana. Ohio State finished in 12th at the NCAA Championship in 2024 and fourth in the Big Ten Championship. Indiana finished second in the Big Ten and No. 15 nationally.
This season, SMU returns 16 student-athletes who competed at last season's NCAA Championship: Josephine Wilson, Sydney Stuelpe, Grace Knudson,Haley Schwenn, Lauren Bilafer, Ashlyn Wilshire, Annabelle New, Anna Fina, Claire Murphy, Sophia Dooley, Jaime Maybery, Ava Ha, Francesca La Marca, Ellie Lewis. Avery Bethel and Paige Horton. They four-peated as AAC Champions and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The squad finished in 21st nationally.
Last season, five Mustangs were named first team all-conference and three were named second team. Bilafer and Murphy return to the current squad among the honorees.
This season, freshman Roxy Welford was named to the ACC Preseason Watch List. The Watch List includes one student-athlete from each program, nominated by their respective schools.
