Sitz Concludes World Aquatics Diving World Cup

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (SMU) – SMU freshman diver Luke Sitz saw action in three events on behalf of Team USA at the first stop of the World Aquatics Diving World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, over the weekend.
 
Sitz's lone individual event was on 3-meter, where he placed 10th during finals on Saturday evening with a score of 384.75. He advanced to finals thanks to a 378.45 effort in prelims, placing 12th out of 27 divers on Thursday.
 
The freshman also competed in the Mixed 3-meter and 10-meter team event on Friday evening. The American team of Daryn Wright, Tyler Willis, Sophia Verzyl and Sitz earned a score of 372.20 to take sixth. Sitz had two dives in the event, with his second recording a score of 71.40 on a 5154B.
 
The Prosper native concluded the competition on Sunday morning in the 3-meter synchronized event. Sitz joined Indiana's Josh Sollenberger to earn a total of 341.07 to place 11th in the event.
 
This adds to Sitz's international experience. He previously competed at the World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships on behalf of the United States during the week of Thanksgiving. Sitz posted three top-six finishes, including placing fifth on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
 
Sitz also recorded two top-four finishes at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, the highest finisher below the age of 20 on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
