TYLER, Texas (SMU/ATP) — SMU Men's Tennis sophomore
Trevor Svajda earned a singles wild card bid to compete at the Tyler Spine & Joint Men's Championship at Tyler, Texas, as part of the ATP Challenger Tour, the ATP announced on Sunday.

Svajda will face the second-seeded Liam Draxl in the round of 32 on Tuesday
. Draxl is a former Kentucky standout and is currently ranked No. 146 in the ATP.

The ATP Challenger tournament will be held at the Tyler Athletic and Swim Club.

The San Diego native competed in last year's ATP Challenger at Tyler, where he fell to James Trotter (6-4, 7-6(5)) in the round of 32.

At his previous ATP Challenger event, Svajda reached the San Diego Challenger quarterfinal round on February 24 and earned a qualification to the ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells.

Following SMU's inaugural ACC campaign, Svajda was ranked No. 47 in singles on the ITA final rankings. He was ranked No. 33 in doubles when paired with
Louis Cloud.
