KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SMU) – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced SMU as one of its 2024-25 Team Academic Excellence Award recipients and five Mustangs were named to the NABC Honors Court on Thursday.
The team earned this recognition by completing the 2024-25 year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Graduate students Keon Ambrose-Hylton, Matt Cross, Tibet Görener, Kario Oquendo and Jackson Young all secured a spot on the NABC Honors Court. To achieve this, each student-athlete had to finish the 2024-25 academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
In Head Coach Andy Enfield's first season on the Hilltop, the Mustangs went 24-11 overall and earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT. SMU finished 13-7 in the program's inaugural season in the ACC to tie for fourth, recording a 7-3 road record in league play. The Mustangs also won the Acrisure Holiday Invitational. The incoming high school class has been rated as high as No. 6 and the overall class as high as No. 17, which are both the best in program history.
