DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Women's Tennis has added two athletes to its 2025-26 roster, signing Michigan State transfer, Natalie Stasny, and freshman from the state of Georgia, Lauren Anderson.
Stasny comes to the Hilltop as a rising junior after two years of experience at Michigan State. Last season, Stasny finished the year with a 7-4 singles record with appearances at positions five and six, while also going 7-7 in doubles action. The Woodridge, Illinois, native also excelled off the court, earning ITA Scholar-Athlete and CSC Academic All-District recognition, as she was one of three Spartans to achieve a 4.00 GPA. Stasny is a former 5-star recruit with a national ranking as high as No. 37 and No. 1 in her home state of Illinois.
"We can't wait to have Natalie on campus," said Head Coach
Jeff Nevolo. "We are looking forward to adding her maturity and her Big 10 experience to our roster. Her accolades in the classroom and on the court make her an impressive addition to our team."
Sugar Hill, Georgia native Anderson joins the Mustangs after a successful high school career at North Gwinnett High School and is a 4-star recruit, according to Tennisrecruiting.net. Anderson went undefeated in singles in North Gwinnett's 2022 spring season and earned the Coaches Award for the Georgia High School Association that same year. The following year, her team reached the state finals. During the run, Anderson dropped just one doubles match the entire year. In 2024, Anderson competed at several USTA events, most notably reaching the USTA Level 3 Quarterfinals in Arizona, along with a third-place finish at the Level 4 tournament. While competing in the USTA tournaments, she was nominated by peers for the USTA Sportsmanship Award.
"We are so excited to have Lauren join us this fall," said Nevolo. "She has an impressive tennis background and a wonderful reputation throughout the Atlanta tennis community. We know that she will be a wonderful addition to our group!"
The two join the Mustangs as SMU enters its second season in the ACC under head coach
Jeff Nevolo, who enters his seventh year on the Hilltop.
