SMU men's golf is ranked No. 15 in Golfweek's Preseason Top 30 announced by the site on Wednesday.
The Mustangs are coming off a season that saw the team win two tournaments, win three individual titles and advance to the match play portion of the ACC Championship.
The team returns eight golfers who saw action in 2024-25. Seniors
Zachary Kingsland and
Will Sides both return as standouts from their previous three seasons.
Kingsland participated in 11 events with a 70.79 scoring average last season. He finished the season ranked No. 54 in the Scoreboard Rankings. He placed 10
th at the NCAA Auburn Regional just missing an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship. The Austin, Texas native won tournament titles at the SMU hosted Trinity Forest Invitational and the Hal Williams Collegiate. He was selected to the All-ACC Team.
Will Sides posted a 71.15 scoring average during the last season. He won a individual title at the Stephens Cup and helped the Mustangs win the Vaqueros Intercollegiate with a runner-up finish. He was named All-Conference for the third straight season. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native has two match play victories to his name last season. He finished the season ranked No. 74 in the country.
Matthew Foster returns to the team after posting a 73.42 scoring average last season, his sophomore campaign. Foster won an individual title in 2023-24 at the Fallen Oak Invitational.
J. Holland Humphries is the most senior Mustang returning for his redshirt senior season. He posted a 73.28 scoring average last year.
Areen Aggarwal posted a 73.00 last season and will be a junior this season.
Christian Clark finished in 11
th at the Trinity Forest Invitational and will be a senior.
Gabe Post returns for his senior season as well with a top 20 showing at the Waco River Classic.
Andrew Petruzzelli, a transfer from TCU, represented the Mustangs at the ACC Championship. Petruzzelli will be a junior.
Three incoming freshman complete the roster:
Mason Lewis from Illinois,
Zhengqian Li from China and
Ben Steinmann from Switzerland.
The Mustangs return to the Stephens Cup for their opening event of the 2025-26 season. The tournament runs September 15-17 in Illinois.
