DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis will split into two groups for the weekend as they take on the Chowder Classic in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Vikas Deo and
Matthew Faraci will compete in the Chowder Classic on Sep. 19-21. At the tournament hosted by Harvard, the Mustangs will be playing against players from Brown, Yale, Cornell, Illinois and Boston University.
Faraci made his collegiate debut last week at the Waco Fall Kickoff, earning a straight-set win over UT Arlington's Jesse Gothelf (6-4, 6-3).
Georgi Georgiev,
Trevor Svajda and
Alex Finkelstein were selected to compete at the ITA All-American on Sep. 20-28.
Georgiev will play in the pre-qualifying draw beginning Saturday, Finkelstein was selected to play the qualifying round on Monday and Svajda earned a spot to play in the main draw scheduled for Wednesday.
The ITA All-American Championships is the Mustangs' first opportunity to earn a qualifying spot in the NCAA Individual Championships. From this tournament, 10 singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists) and four doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship (four main draw semifinalists).

Mustangs in the ITA Preseason Rankings
Trevor Svajda,
Alex Finkelstein and
Georgi Georgiev were ranked in the ITA Preseason Rankings.
Svajda and Finkelstein were ranked No. 22 and 69 in the singles rankings, respectively.
Svajda and Georgiev broke into the rankings at No. 34 in the doubles rankings.
NCAA Individual Championships
In 2024,
Trevor Svajda was the only Mustang to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship. He fell in the round of 32 of the tournament.
