SETTING THE SCENE
• The Mustangs are back at home this upcoming Saturday to take on Syracuse for Family Weekend. 
• SMU is coming off a bye week. 
Kevin Jennings is coming off his second three-touchdown performance against TCU on Sept. 20. 
Yamir Knight had season highs in receptions (5) and receiving yards (69) while recording a touchdown against the Horned Frogs. 
TJ Harden finished against TCU with a team-high 87 all-purpose yards, his third straight game with at least 85.  

QUICK HITS
• SMU has won its last 17 conference regular-season contests dating back to 2022, which is tied with Oregon for the longest active streak in the nation. 
• The Mustangs have been explosive this year, recording seven offensive scoring drives in 2025 that have resulted in touchdowns in under two minutes.
• SMU has put up the points in its last 17 home games, averaging 48.1 points per game during the 17-game span dating back in 2022 while posting a record of 15-2. 
• The SMU defense has been opportunistic to start 2025, ranking fourth in FBS in defensive touchdowns (2), seventh in turnovers gained (9), ninth in passes intercepted (6), eighth in fumbles recovered (3), 13th in red zone defense (.688) and 23rd in fumble recovered (3).
• Both Jeffrey M'ba and Cameron Robertson have been effective getting to the quarterback, ranking tied for third in the ACC in sacks with three.
Romello Brinson currently ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in receiving yards per game (2nd, 91.3), receiving yards (4th, 365) and receiving touchdowns (5th, 3).
• SMU's 56 wins in the last six years are tied for the most by any FBS team in the state with Texas. In addition, the Mustangs have won 25 of those on the road, tops for any team in the state since 2019.
• The Mustangs are 22-6 in their last 28 games, and 21-3 in their last 24 regular-season contests.
• SMU has posted a record of 27-3 during Lashlee's four seasons in charge when they score 30-or-more points in a game.
• The Mustangs have had at least seven receivers catch a pass in 32 of the past 35 games.
Rhett Lashlee boasts a 21-3 conference record in his career. His 21-3 record in his first 24 league games on the Hilltop is the best in SMU history.
• SMU entered the year ranked 16th in both the US LBM Coaches and Associated Press Preseason Polls, its highest preseason rank since 1985.
Isaiah Nwokobia has been recognized as one of the premier safeties in the country heading into 2025, being named preseason All-America by multiple publications (Athlon Sports, Phil Steele, Sporting News and Walter Camp). 
• Nwokobia has also appeared on numerous watch lists including the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, Bronco Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl. 
Kevin Jennings looks to build on his breakout campaign last year, being selected to several premier watch lists that include the Maxwell Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award, East-West Shrine Bowl and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

THE SERIES
• This is the second meeting between SMU and Syracuse.
• The teams last met in 1932 with the Mustangs defeating the Orange 16-6.

ABOUT THE ORANGE
• Syracuse finished the 2024 season with a 10-3 record, posting a 5-3 mark in conference play.
• The Orange have gone 3-2 in 2025, going 1-1 against ACC opponents.
• Syracuse is coming off a 38-3 loss against Duke on Sept. 27.

SOMETHING SPECIAL GOING ON HERE
• The Mustangs have been a force in conference play over the last three seasons. 
• SMU has posted a 21-3 record against conference opponents since 2022, highlighted by the current 17-game winning streak. 
• The 17 straight conference wins breaks the program record set back from 1981 to 1982. 
• The winning streak is tied for the longest active streak in the nation with Oregon.
