Mustangs Move Into 10th At The Goodwin

RESULTS
STANFORD, Calif. (SMU) – SMU men's golf moved into 10th of 30 teams during round two of the Goodwin at Stanford Golf Course.
Against a field that includes 14 top 50 teams, the Mustangs posted a six-over score after shooting five under during the first round. They came into the day in a tie for fourth but moved into 10th after their round. BYU and UCLA are tied for the team lead at 12-under par. Four teams are within one stroke of the lead.

Will Sides led the Mustang squad for the fourth straight round across the last two tournaments. He posted an even par round to sit in a tie for 13th place. He again had a stretch of three straight birdies, this time recording the feat from the fifth through seventh hole. He lowered his season scoring average down to 70.16, second best at SMU behind Noah Goodwin's 70.00 in 2020-21. He also lowered his career average to 71.31, third best by a Mustang behind Goodwin (71.04, 2017-22) and Bryson DeChambeau (71.15, 2013-16).

Zachary Kingsland shot a 71 to move into 28th place. His one-over par score has him at even par for the tournament. Ben Steinmann stands one shot back of Kingsland in a share of 39th place. He carded a three-over 73 on the day.

Christian Clark posted a two-over 72 to move into 60th while Gabe Post shot 74 to hold 119th.

The Mustangs wrap up play at the Goodwin on Saturday. The team will tee off at 9:05 am CT / 7:05 am PT paired alongside golfers from Cal, Oregon and Utah.
