DALLAS, TEXAS (SMU) – Jo Wilson, a four-year athlete on the SMU rowing team and graduate assistant, has been elevated to assistant coach, head coach
Chase Graham announced.
"I am really excited that
Jo Wilson will be remaining on staff this year," said Graham. "She did an excellent job for SMU as an athlete and graduate assistant coach. She has proven success in our sport and a wealth of knowledge to offer our team. It is rare to have someone give six years of dedication to a program, so I am pleased to welcome someone to the staff with that level of passion for the Hilltop."
As part of the coaching staff across the 2025-26 season, Wilson helped SMU finish eighth at the ACC Championships and guided
Kate Kulig to an All-ACC Third Team selection.
"I'm excited to be coming back to SMU Rowing in a full-time capacity and serve the student-athletes both in and out of the boat," said Wilson. "I've been fortunate enough to come to know Coach Graham and the staff well over the past several years and could not be more grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them and help the team achieve their goals."
As a student-athlete, the Austin native coxed the 2v4, 1v8 and 2v8 throughout her time on the Hilltop. During her senior season, Wilson finished fifth in the Grand Final of the 2025 ACC Championships in the 2v8 with a 6:28.780.
Wilson also finished second in the 1v8 at the 2024 AAC Championship with a time of 6:42.217, helping the Mustangs secure their fourth straight team title and raced in the 1v8 at the NCAA Championship, guiding the Mustangs to a 21st-place finish.
