How It Went
SMU took the initiative at the start of the game and was flirting with multiple chances in the final third.

Landon Hickam saw the first half chance of the game but his shot from inside the box went wide. It was Jaylinn Mitchell who put the Mustangs up on the scoreboard from outside of the box minutes after Hickam's effort.

Mitchell curled the ball from distance on the right wing to score the first goal of the season in the 14th minute.

The Mustangs kept in control, and it was Stephan Soghomonian, assisted by Milton Lopez, who scored the second goal in the 29th minute with a one-time volley.

In a back-and-forth, both teams saw chances at the final stretch of the first half, but the scoreline remained 2-0 for SMU at the break.

SMU retained the initiative at the start of the second half. Off the bat, Mitchell drove onto the left wing and clipped a cross over from inside the box to find Enzo Panozzo, who headed the ball into the net.

Panozzo made the scoreline 3-0 for SMU in the 54th minute of the match.

The Mustangs stayed in control of the game and created more chances, but the scoreline remained three-nil until the final minute of the match when Stetson's Mauricio Restrepo scored a goal from outside the box to reduce the visitors' deficit.
