DALLAS (SMU) – No. 5 SMU Volleyball (10-2, 2-0 ACC) capped off the opening weekend of ACC play with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15) win over Cal (10-3, 0-2 ACC) Sunday afternoon in Moody Coliseum.

Suli Davis notched a season-high 26 kills, hitting .308 against the Golden Bears. Davis reached the 20+ kill threshold for the fourth time this season.

The Mustangs hit .358 as a team, a percentage boosted by SMU's middles, who had another efficient outing together. Natalia Newsome and Favor Anyanwu combined for 18 kills on a .630 clip with only one error on 27 total swings.

SMU ended the match with advantages in kills (56-41), assists (52-41), aces (6-2) and digs (35-27).

After the Golden Bears hit .538 in the first set, the Mustangs held Cal to .132 in the final three sets, including below .100 in the third and fourth.

MATCH NOTES:

The Mustangs improved its home winning streak to 15 consecutive matches, the longest in program history and tied for the third-longest active streak in the country.

SMU continued its streak of ACC dominance, winning its 11th straight ACC match, the longest active streak in the league.

Davis's 26 kills are the tied for the second most by a Mustang in a four-set match in the 25-point rally scoring era.

Davis's 10 kills in the first frame are the most by an individual in a set during the Erger era.

Since joining the ACC in 2024, the Mustangs are 35-7 in ACC matches.

The Mustangs improved to 3-1 against the Bears and have won the last three contests.

The Mustangs have hit .300 or better in every home match this season and five total times this season.

SMU improves to 52-0 when hitting .300 or better under Erger.

Davis notched 20 or higher kills for the fourth time this season. She has logged 15 or more kills in all but one match this season.

Harris has reached double-digit digs in 11 of the 12 matches so far this season.
