SMU sophomore forward Carl Bussey was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Bussey, a native of Plano, Texas (Plano East HS), scored two goals and two assists in the Mustangs' 4-0 victory over Tulsa on Sunday. With the win, SMU clinched the WAC title, receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Bussey also scored the first goal in a 4-0 win over Drury last Friday to tally eight points over the weekend.

Bussey is second in the WAC (behind teammate Mohamed Fahim) in points (27) and goals (10) and tied for the conference lead with seven assists.

The 20th-ranked SMU men's soccer team closes out regular season play this weekend with matches at San Jose State on Friday and Fresno State on Sunday.
