Mustangs Fall to No. 13 Baylor, 4-3

The No. 8 SMU men's tennis was upset Saturday afternoon at T-Bar, 4-3, by No. 13 ranked Baylor. The Mustangs won the doubles point behind wins by the No. 4 team in the nation, Johan Brunstrom and Eric Cohn, and Gwinyai Chingoka and Lukasz Senczyszyn at No. 3 doubles. With the double point in hand for a 1-0 lead, SMU couldn't garner the three necessary singles points needed to secure its third victory of the early 2002 season.

Senior Krystian Pfeiffer made his dominant play known though in singles, defeating the nation's No. 3 singles player, Benjamin Becker, 6-2, 7-6 at No. 1 singles. The only other Mustang singles player to win his match was Senczyszyn at No. 4 singles, where he won with a 6-4, 7-6 triumph over Baylor's Reiner Neurohr.

With the loss, SMU falls to 2-1 on the year, and will next be in action Feb. 7-10 at the National Team Indoors in Louisville, Ky.
