Our team ended it's season at the Jerry S. Rawls golf course in Lubbock, Texas at the NCAA Central Regional Championship. We were six strokes off from advancing to the NCAA Finals. The team got off to a slow start the first day by placing 19th. The second day, we rebounded and moved up three spots under extremely windy conditions. The final round we shot the second best score of the day and finished 11th overall, showing we can compete with the best teams in the country. Although, we were disappointed we didn't advance to the finals, we placed two spots ahead of where we were seeded.
Lacey Jones led us and turned in scores 76-75-75-226 and placed 20th. I shot 77-79-71-227 and finished 26th. Kristina Rothengatter carded scores of 77-78-77-232, finishing 49th. Laura Cross shot 80-81-75-236 and placed 68th. Ashley Deatherage turned in scores 86-86-85-257.
As a team, we continue to make major leaps forward under the leadership of Coach Selders. The team's spirt and dedication makes us one of the top golf programs in the country. We will all remain dedicated this summer in practicing hard and honing our golf skills. I know our 2005-2006 golf season will be our best yet.
