Tulsa, Okla. - The SMU men's soccer team held its ground vs. ninth-ranked Creighton Sunday and posted a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes of regulation play and 20 minutes of overtime play in the final day of the Microtel Inn & Suites Golden Hurricane Classic in Tulsa. SMU's record now stands at 2-4-2 while the Bluejays post a 4-1-2 mark.
New Mexico earns the weekend's tournament title.
After a scoreless first half, Creighton's Tyler Stansberry won a one-on-one match-up against SMU netminder Steve Sandbo at the 65:02 mark. SMU knotted the game at 1-1 at the 73:52 mark as freshman Jeff Harwell connected on a left-side shot approximately eight yards out.
Neither team could capitalize on scoring opportunities for the remainder of the contest, resulting in a tie.
SMU representatives on the All-Tournament team include senior David Chun and junior Jay Needham.
SMU returns home to open Conference USA play, hosting UAB Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Westcott Field.
