Three Mustangs Advance In U.S. Open Qualifying

DALLAS (SMU) - Three members of the SMU women's golf team have advanced to sectional play in qualifying for the 2006 U.S. Women's Open. Jennifer Ackerson, Ashley Deatherage and Kate Ackerson were among 19 players to advance from local qualifying on Monday, May 15, at the Westwood Golf Club in Houston.
Jennifer Ackerson, who previously qualified for the 2004 Open, tied for third in qualifying, shooting a 74. Deatherage (76) and Kate Ackerson (77) also finished among the leaders and will play 36 holes June 12-13 at TPC at Craig Ranch in McKinney.
The U.S. Women's Open will be played at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I., June 29-July 2.
