FRISCO (SMU) - SMU golfer Kate Ackerson tied for medalist honors with a 2-under 70 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier at Stonebriar Country Club on Wed., July 5, and will advance to the U.S. Women's Amateur, Aug. 7-13, at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.
Four other SMU golfers played well, but failed to advance - incoming freshman Sarah Dodson (74), Kristina Rothengatter (75), Jennifer Ackerson (76) and Lacey Jones (78).
"I'm really proud of all of our student-athletes," said Head Coach Todd Selders. "I'm really happy with Kate for bringing another USGA Medal to SMU (Laura Cross - Pub Links Qualifying). This will be a very good experience for Kate. I know she will play well up there and can't wait to see how far she can take it."
