KERRVILLE, Texas (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team stands in first place following the opening two rounds of the UTSA Intercollegiate at the 7,103-yard, par-72 Comanche Trace Golf Course. SMU carded a 36-hole total of 562 to lead St. John's by two shots. Individually, Mustang Kelly Kraft is tied for the lead at 10-under 134 after back-to-back 67s.
Ben Tewes is in third at 8-under 136, and both James Minahan (145 - 16th) and Draegen Majors (147 - 25th) had strong showings as well, ranking in the top 25. Frank Wrenn's 154 has him 53rd.
In addition to SMU, the 14-team field includes Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Boston College, Central Arkansas, McNeese State, Oklahoma Christian, St. John's, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, UTSA and Western Kentucky.
