Women's Golf Inks Pair

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team has signed a pair of talented junior players to National Letters of Intent, Head Coach Todd Selders announced today. Jennifer Hooper of Jacksonville, Fla., and Elizabeth Wells of El Dorado, Ark., have signed with SMU and will begin play in the fall of 2008.
Hooper, a right-hander from Bishop Kenny High School, is a four-time All-District performer who has also earned All-Region and All-Northeast Florida honors. She has been her Team MVP for four seasons and has qualified for the state championships as an individual twice.
Wells, another right-hander, has been a four-year letterwinner at El Dorado High and has three top-10 finishes at AJGA events to her credit. She played in the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur and the 2005 U.S. Junior Girls' Championship. She is a four-time All-State and All-Conference selection and won the state title in 2004, 2006 and 2007. She led El Dorado to two state team championships and took medalist honors at the 2004, 2005 and 2007 Conference Championships.
"We are very pleased to have signed Jennifer and Elizabeth," said Selders. "They should help us reach our goal of becoming a perennial top-25 program. We're very close to that goal right now, and I know that they will come in here and make us that much more competitive next fall."
