Ft. Worth, Texas - The SMU women's track and field squad posted strong marks in Saturday's TCU Invitational in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Senior Gaelle Niare (Montrveil, France) had a busy day, competing in five events. She turned in two first-place efforts and both NCAA Regional qualifying marks - in the long jump (6.12 meters) and in the high jump (1.80 meters). In addition, Niare placed fourth in the javelin with a toss of 34.02 meters and ran the 800-meter run event in a time of 2:29.47. She also threw for a mark of 13.40 meters (good for 10th place) in the shot put event.
Sophomore thrower Christina Mueller (San Antonio, Texas) claimed second in the discus event with a toss of 46.62 meters. Freshman Lauren Kuhner (Houston, Texas) finished in ninth place in the discus with a 29.20 meter mark. Kuhner also placed third in the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 51.02 meters.

SMU's next competition is set for next weekend with participants in the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa) as well as the Sooner Invitational in Norman, Okla.
