DALLAS (SMU) - With a record-setting 64 in round two to his credit, SMU senior Colt Knost carded a 74 in the final round of the EDS Byron Nelson Championship to finish tied for 67th at 74-64-74-74-286. Knost wrapped up the event in style, birdying the 16th and 18th holes in his first PGA event. Knost played well against the loaded field, finishing ahead of Sergio Garcia.
Knost will now head for the 2007 Conference USA Golf Championships at the par 72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark. The SMU team stands in 10th place after the opening round, having played with only four scoring golfers in Knost's absence. Frank Wrenn played extremely well on Sunday, shooting a 1-under 71 to tie for fifth. Draegen Majors' 2-over 74 tied him for 22nd, while Scott Sikes (77-T39) and Scott Barton (79-T48) rounded out the SMU foursome.
