DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team will tee off at the NCAA Central Regional Thursday, May 10, at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The top eight teams from each of the three Regional sites advance to the championships finals to be held at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., May 22-25.
The Mustangs have put together a solid season thus far, despite having several key players miss time due to injuries. Senior All-C-USA golfer Laura Cross has missed the entire season and remains sidelined, while All-C-USA golfer Jennifer Ackerson missed much of the spring before returning last month. SMU will now compete for the Regional without the services of another All-C-USA golfer, Lacey Jones, who remains out with a foot injury
"I'm so proud of this team and all of the accomplishments they have achieved this season," said SMU head coach Todd Selders. "With all of the injuries, each player had to step it up and they did just that. This team earned this bid due to their work ethic and determination they showed throughout the year. Now, it's time to concentrate on playing our best at the NCAA Regionals. We just need to take it one shot at a time."
