Texarkana, Ark. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team shaved 14 strokes off its first-round score on Monday at the 2007 Conference USA Golf Championships. After shooting 301 on Sunday, SMU carded a 287 in round two at the par 72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club, jumping from 10th to sixth in the team standings. SMU now stands at 588 for 26 holes. Tulsa leads at 570.
Colt Knost, fresh off his first PGA event, posted his usual great score, carding a 1-under 71. The best Mustang score of the day, however, belonged to Scott Barton, who posted a 2-under 70. Barton is now tied for 27th at 149. Draegen Majors continues to lead the SMU team, shooting 73, and is tied for 17th at 147. On the heels of his opening round 71, Frank Wrenn struggled on day two, carding a 79. He is now tied for 30th with teammate Scott Sikes (77-73) at 150.
