WALNUT, Calif. (SMU) - SMU freshman Silje Fjortoft won again, posting a victory in the 5,000m run on the first day of the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Fjortoft, who currently holds the nation's top time in the 3,000m steeplechase, crossed the line in 16:19.41 - the nation's fourth-fastest time in 2008 - in only the second time she has run the event.
In the meet's second heat, Mustangs Rachael Forish and Sierra Anderson each posted strong finishes. Forish finished eighth in a season-best 17:23.32, while Anderson set a new personal-best time of 17:33.34 to finish 12th.
