ARDMORE, Okla. (SMU) - SMU sophomore Ben Tewes shot a final-round 68 to finish sixth at The Maxwell at Dornick Hills Country Club on Sunday, May 11. As a team, SMU finished sixth at 11-under 829.

Tewes, who entered the day in 13th-place, led SMU with his 4-under 68 and finished at even-par 210. Kelly Kraft, who entered the day tied with Tewes, shot 73 and finished 18th at 5-over 215. Dan Kleckner's final-round 70 saw him jump to 27th at 218, while James Minahan finished 45th at 224. Scott Barton (48th/225) rounded out SMU's five-man team.

The tournament utilized a unique format with each team playing together as a fivesome. Scoring for the tournament used an alternate format as well. Instead of using the low four individual totals after each round, team scores were compiled using the low four scores on each hole.

Draegen Majors (215) and Frank Wrenn (221) played the event as individuals and finished 18th and 36th, respectively.

Up next for the Mustangs are the NCAA Regionals, May 15-17, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
