DALLAS (SMU) - Senior Ryan Mirsky scored in the third minute of the game, when he headed in a corner kick from senior midfielder Jeff Harwell, but the goal was not enough as the SMU men's soccer team fell, 4-1, to Tulsa.
The Mustangs, who are ranked No. 6 in the nation in the current National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, started fast with Mirsky's goal and outshot their guests, but the Golden Hurricane got first-half goals from Justin Chavez and Jeovahnni Sandez to tie the game and then take the lead.
Harwell not only scored the Mustangs' lone goal, he also was among the leading shooters on the evening for SMU: he, fellow defender Leone Cruz and forward Paulo da Silva each had three shots.
The Mustangs now take to the road to face Memphis Oct. 5, before returning home for three straight 7 p.m. home games: Oct. 8 against South Carolina, Oct. 12 against Central Arkansas and Oct. 19 against Marshall
