HOUSTON(AP) - Despite outgaining No. 17 Houston in total yardage, SMU fell, 38-15, to the host Cougars on Saturday night. The Cougars jumped out to a 14-0 lead after converting two early SMU turnovers and never trailed.
Charles Sims scored Houston's first touchdown on a 20-yard run following a Mustang fumble and UH scored again after SMU fumbled again at its own two-yard line.
Case Keenum, who entered the game averaging a nation's best 417 yards passing, was held to a season-low 233 yards and a touchdown and was sacked a season-high four times by the Mustang defense.
Despite the loss, SMU still holds a share of the Conference USA West lead at 2-1 in C-USA play.
