SORRENTO, Fla. (SMU) - Despite a 5-under par 285 in the final round, the SMU men's golf team finished second with a 12-under 852 at the C-USA Men's Golf Championship at RedTail Golf Club. UCF led the event wire-to-wire, finishing at 18-under par 846 and clinching a spot in the upcoming NCAA Regionals.
SMU had two players in the top six, which was a big reason why the Mustangs finished second overall. Draegen Majors shot a 6-under 210 for the tournament and finished fourth, securing a spot on the All-Tournament team. Kelly Kraft finished tied for sixth with a 4-under 212.
The Mustangs just missed another top-10 finisher as James Kwon finished in a tie for 11th, carding a 1-under 215 for the tournament. Marc Sambol and Aaron Stewart finished in 21st and tied for 32nd, respectively, rounding out the Mustangs' efforts on the final day.
UCF junior Simon Ward captured the C-USA individual championship with an 11-under par 205.
