Ackerson Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas (SMU) - SMU senior Kate Ackerson was a unanimous selection to the 2009 C-USA Women's Golf All-Academic Team, the league office announced today. Ackerson, a three-time All-Academic selection, is also a three-time NGCA All-America Scholar and a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District member. The Allen, Texas, native is a four-time C-USA Academic Medal winner and member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Ackerson has been named All-C-USA three times and is a three-time C-USA Golfer of the Week honoree. The business major holds a 3.89 GPA and took medalist honors at the 2009 Baylor Invitational earlier this spring.
The six-person all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a regular participant on her team.
Ackerson and the Mustangs return to the links at the C-USA Women's Golf Championships, Sunday, April 12, through Tuesday, April 14, at the Tulsa (Okla.) Country Club. For live coverage of the 2009 C-USA Women's Golf Championship, click here.
