Track Completes First Event Of 2010 Season

COLLEGE STATION (SMU) - The track team completed its first event this past weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational. The Mustangs had 20 entries into the field that included top teams such as No. 1 Texas A&M and No. 21 Oklahoma.

Individually Ayla Gill had a strong performance in her first outing of the season, finishing third in the weight throw with a distance of 17.86m. She finished just ahead of teammate Lauren Kuhner who placed fourth with a distance of 17.37. Mary Alenbratt finished fourth in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:55.15.

SMU will return to action on Jan. 22 in Fayetteville, Ark. at the Arkansas Invitational.
