DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team posted a solid fourth-place finish at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate this week, besting No. 19 Texas Tech, No. 40 Baylor, No. 49 New Mexico and No. 50 Oklahoma. At 3-under 565, the Mustangs finished just one shot back of No. 10 Arkansas (564). Originally schedule for 54 holes, the tournament's final round was cancelled Tuesday due to persistent heavy rains and lightning.
Individually, SMU's Kelly Kraft tied for fourth with 20th-ranked Matt Smith of Texas Tech and Texas A&M's Case Cochran at 6-under 136. James Kwon's 3-under 139 was good for 11th and Matt Schovee's 1-over 143 tied him for 23rd alongside 51st-ranked Cameron Peck of Texas A&M. All three of the Mustangs bested 26th-ranked Jamie Marshall of Arkansas and 54th-ranked Travis Ross of New Mexico.
No. 17 Iowa (551) won the event and No. 12 Texas A&M was runner-up at 556. Iowa's Vince India earned individual medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 10-under 132.

Having concluded their fall schedule, the Mustangs return to action Feb. 16-18, 2011, at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Honolulu, Hawaii.
