Victoria Leks Wins High Jump At Iowa State Classic

AMES, Iowa (SMU) - SMU field athlete Victoria Leks won the high jump with a mark of 1.73m, Saturday at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa. For the meet, SMU had six athletes place in the top 10 of their respective events.

Amber Evans finished in third out of 71 competitors in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.27 seconds. Alexandria Smith also had a good effort, placing sixth in the 600 yard run finishing in just 1:26.55.

Simone Du Toit continued her strong season, earning an NCAA Provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 15.65m. Ayla Gill was one of two Mustangs to finish in the top 10 in the weight throw, placing fifth with a mark of 17.86m. Lauren Kuhner was ninth in the event with a score of 17.48m.

SMU will return to action at the Conference USA Championships on Feb. 26 in Houston.
