DALLAS (SMU) - In a field that boasts the last three national champions and nine teams ranked in the top 50, making it arguably the toughest field that the group will face all year, the SMU men's golf team currently sits in 13th place through two rounds at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate after carding a 290-300--590.
Max Buckley (74-73--147), Harry Higgs (73-74--147) and Marc Sambol (72-75--147) are all currently tied for 50th place at five-over par.
After firing the top round for the team in the first round with a 71, Matt Schovee shot a 78 in the second to finish the day with a 149, while freshman Sam Fidone carded a 76-78--154 on the day.
SMU will begin the final round of its last tournament of the fall season tomorrow morning. With staggered start times, all of the Mustangs will tee off by approximately 8:50 a.m.
