COLUMBIA, Mo. (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team finished up play at the Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne today, finishing in seventh place. The group combined to shoot a 302 in the third round today, moving up two spots from yesterday.
"I think we really learned a lot about ourselves this week," said SMU assistant coach David Von Ins. "We really bounced back nicely after our first round to shoot a season low of 294 in the second round."
Felicia Espericueta tallied the team's top finish, tying for tenth after carding a 76-69-77—222, 6-over par. Jennifer Hooper was two strokes behind her teammate at 8-over, finishing in a tie for 16th.
"Jen Hooper showed some great senior leadership this week, bouncing back to shoot rounds of 70 and 73," Von Ins said.
"There were a lot of positives to take from this tournament and we look forward to getting back to Dallas and getting back to work in preparation for our next tournament."
The Mustangs will be in Las Cruces, N.M., next week competing in the Price's Give Em Five tournament from Oct. 10-11.
