ORLANDO, Fla. (SMU) - It was announced this week that SMU golfer Felicia Espericueta was named Golfweek Player of the Week. The junior earned the honor after winning the Badger Invitational on Oct. 26, her second-straight tournament victory.
The Mustangs' junior was the only player to finish under par at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis. Espericueta posted rounds of 70-72-73 to finish at 1-under 215 and win the individual title by six shots. SMU finished second as a team to host Wisconsin. The victory was Espericueta's second in a row to start the fall season. She won the Chip-N Club Invitational in her first start, also leading SMU to the team title there, the Mustangs' first team victory since September 2006.
Through three tournaments this season, Espericueta has a scoring average of 73, more than five shots better than last season. Her two victories this year has also tied Laura Cross (2003-2004) for the most wins by an SMU golfer in a single season.
