Box Score vs. Illinois-Chicago

CHICAGO (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team extended its win streak to 11 matches with a 6-1 win at the University of Illinois-Chicago on Thursday. With the victory, the Mustangs move to 14-5 on the season.

SMU opened the match with a sweep of doubles play. Adham el-Effendi and Darren Walsh were first to finish as they defeated the pairing of Luiz Gonzaga and Rahul Kamath 8-3. Next off the courts was the newly-ranked No. 68 duo of Gaston Cuadranti and Artem Baradach who downed Nate Kirk and Scott Shepardson 8-6. Tobias Flood and Joseph Hattrup combined to beat Alexander Raa and Dave Robare 8-7.

In singles play, Tobias Flood was first off the courts with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Gautham Oroskar.

No. 39 Baradach was second to finish as he defeated Raa 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 position. With the win, Baradach is 10-2 on the year and holds a 9-2 mark in the top spot.

The Mustangs also received strong showings from el-Effendi, who defeated James Li 6-4, 6-3, and Robert Sajovich, who downed Oroskar 6-3, 6-3. Cuadranti edged Kirk for a 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 win. Nowicki was the Mustangs' only loss of the match, falling 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 to Gonzaga.

SMU continues its road trip with a match against Notre Dame on Sunday at 1 p.m.
