Match Results 
DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU men's tennis team opened the 2012 dual-match season with a 5-2 defeat to No. 19 Texas Sunday afternoon at the Dallas Country Club.
The Longhorns took an early 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles point, 8-4, 8-6, 9-8.
After Gaston Cuadranti was defeated in straight sets by Soren Hess-Oleson in the No. 1 singles match to give Texas a 2-0 advantage, SMU cut the lead in half as freshman Arturs Kazijevs defeated of David Holiner, 6-4, 6-3.
Despite the win in the fourth flight, SMU was unable to keep the momentum going. Tobias Flood tried to string together a pair of victories as hed rallied back in the third flight, pushing Sudanwa Sitaram to a third set, but eventually the junior fell, 6-0, 3-6, 6-0. Lloyd Glasspool sealed the match for Texas as he defeated Joseph Hattrup in straight sets.
With the result already in hand, senior Robert Sajovich picked up the Mustangs other victory on the day as he knocked off Jacoby Lewis 7-6, 6-4 in the sixth flight.
The Mustangs will return to action on Jan. 22 as they host UT-Pan American at 12 p.m. CT, at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas.
