OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (SMU) - SMU improved by 10 strokes from round one during round two at the Fighting Illini/Olympia Fields Invitational on Monday.

"We had a better day, still not great," Head Coach Josh Gregory said of his team's performance on day two. "Great comeback by Ryan Burgess today. A 68 is a great round of golf here."

Burgess, who struggled on Sunday, bounced back with a 2-under 68 on Monday, tying him for the second-lowest round of the day. Mario Clemens, in his first-career appearance for SMU, is currently the highest-ranking Mustang, sitting in a tie for 29th.

SMU came into the tournament as No. 2 in GolfStat's computer rankings. Out of the 14 teams in the event, 10 of them are ranked in the top-50 in those same rankings, making the event one of the toughest in the nation. Coach Gregory believes in his team, and thinks that in tomorrow's final round SMU can play very well and capture a solid finish.

"We need a good round tomorrow to move up the board," Gregory said. "We can still have a good finish."
