Season Stats 
DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU men's tennis team was defeated today, 5-2, by Columbia, despite straight-set victories by Gaston Cuadranti and Arturs Kazijevs. The Mustangs dropped to 4-5 on the season, while the Lions improved to 10-2.
Despite the defeat, Cuadranti landed his best singles win of the season at No. 1 singles, knocking off No. 64 Haig Schneiderman , 6-2, 6-2. Kazijevs also topped his opponent, Nathaniel Grey, in straight sets in the No. 3 flight,6-1, 7-5. For both, it was their team-leading fifth singles victory of the season.
SMU was able to push three of the other four singles matches to third sets, but were unable to claim a point. Pablo Perez-Esnaola came the closest to victory, nearly giving the Mustangs another point against Winston Lin at No. 2, but dropped the final set 7-6 after taking the second, 6-3.
The Ponies will look to rebound tomorrow as the team hosts Conference USA foe, No. 65 Southern Miss at the Jewish Community Center at 1 p.m. CT.
