DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU men's tennis team was defeated today, 5-2, by Columbia, despite straight-set victories by Gaston Cuadranti and Arturs Kazijevs. The Mustangs dropped to 4-5 on the season, while the Lions improved to 10-2.

Despite the defeat, Cuadranti landed his best singles win of the season at No. 1 singles, knocking off No. 64 Haig Schneiderman , 6-2, 6-2. Kazijevs also topped his opponent, Nathaniel Grey, in straight sets in the No. 3 flight,6-1, 7-5. For both, it was their team-leading fifth singles victory of the season.

The Ponies will look to rebound tomorrow as the team hosts Conference USA foe, No. 65 Southern Miss at the Jewish Community Center at 1 p.m. CT.
