SMU Wraps Up Day One At 2012 Clover Cup

MESA, Ariz. (SMU) -- The SMU women's golf team opened up the 2012 Clover Cup with a 302 and are currently in 10th place after one round of play at the Longbow Golf Course. Caitlin Pisciotta paced the Mustangs after shooting a season-low round 73.
"I'm very happy with Caitlin's play today as she had a personal best round as a Mustang," said SMU head coach Jeanne Sutherland. "She played very well, very solid, as did Elena [Villamil]. We left a couple shots out there and need to play a little bit better throughout the lineup tomorrow, but everyone looked really good so I think we'll make up some ground tomorrow."
Right behind Pisciotta was Maria Elena Villamil who shot a 74, tying for second-lowest round of the season. Both sophomores came away with three birdies on the day. At 1-over par, Pisciotta is tied for 18th place, while Villamil is tied for 23rd.
Felicia Espericueta also tallied three birdies on the day. The junior finished just outside the top 35 after carding a 77 and is tied for 38th. One shot behind her is Jennifer Hooper after shooting a 78.
SMU will begin second round action tomorrow with staggered start times beginning at 10:24 a.m. CT.
