COMPLETE RESULTS
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) - Senior Rachel Nicol had another stellar performance in the breaststroke as she placed third in the Championship Final of the 200-yard event on the final night of the Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M. Nicol clocked in at 2:10.74.
Sophomores Tara-Lynn Nicholas and Kirsty McLauchlan also competed in the Consolation Final of the event posting third- and sixth-place finishes, respectively.
The Mustangs posted six additional top-10 finishes on night three including McLauchlan's 10th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. The sophomore clocked in at 16:52.86.
Sophomore Ursa Bezan was a first-place finisher in the Consolation Final of the 200-yard backstroke, while junior Anna Volchkov finished 17th overall in the event. Bezan's time of 1:59.18 was a season-best and dropped 1.79 seconds from prelims.
Senior Nathalie Lindborg also scored for the Mustangs posting a 49.41 in the 100-yard freestyle placing 10th.
The Mustang divers contributed to the evening's team score as freshman Madeline Wainman finished ninth in the event and sophomore Lauren Lamb finished 10th.
SMU closed out the event with a ninth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as N. Lindborg, freshman Adrienn Santa and sophomores Marne Erasmus and Bezan posted a 3:23.19, over four seconds faster than their entry time.
The Ponies posted a team score of 237 for sixth place at the event. No. 1 Texas A&M won the event, while No. 3 Stanford, No. 21 LSU and No. 24 Boise State followed. Arizona State was a spot ahead of the Mustangs and Grand Canyon and TCU rounded out the group in order.
As a team, the Mustangs are back in action on Jan. 8, 2015, when they return to College Station to face the Aggies and Tennessee.
