Mustangs Drop Match To No. 18 Texas Tech, 5-2

DALLAS (SMU) - Sophomore Hristina Dishkova won her third match of the spring following her victory over Texas Tech senior Nikki Sanders in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 singles position, but No. 18 Texas Tech was too strong over the course of the match, beating the Mustangs, 5-2, in Dallas on Saturday. Dishkova improved her overall record to 11-6 this season.

In addition, sophomore Yana Erkeeva competed at the No. 3 singles position and defeated Red Raider freshman and No. 92 ranked Lynn Kiro by scores of 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 10-6. Erkeeva is now 9-4 overall.

Texas Tech won both the second and third positions to take the opening doubles point. The Red Raiders then won in the No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 positions in singles to take the victory.

SMU is back in action tomorrow as it hosts No. 60 LSU at the Las Collinas Country Club in Irving at 4 p.m.
