MESA, Ariz. (SMU) - The SMU women's swim team continued a successful run on night two of the Mesa Grand Prix on Friday evening.
The Mustangs posted three finishes in the B Final of the 50-meter freestyle, led by junior Nathalie Lindborg who placed fourth in the final in a time of 26.24. Classmate Isabella Arcila was close behind at 26.27 for fifth, and senior Nina Rangelova finished seventh with a time of 26.58.
Arcila also competed in the A Final of the 200-meter backstroke and placed 8th for the Mustangs with a time of 2:18.66, while Rangelova pulled double duty as well competing in the B Final of the 200-meter freestyle taking the top spot at 2:01.63.
Freshman Ursa Bezan was the Ponies second representative in the finals of the 200-free finishing second in the C Final with a time of 2:05.16.
In the B Final of the 400-meter individual medley, freshman Kirsty McLauchlan was sixth touching the wall in 5:00.60 besting her time from this morning's prelims by 3.6 seconds.
Sophomore Anna Volchkov also competed for SMU on night two taking third in the C Final of the 200-meter backstroke (2:21.07).
The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday for the final night of the Mesa Grand Prix. Events include the 800-meter freestyle, 200-meter butterfly, 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley.
