RESULTS

AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) - Seniors Nathalie Lindborg and Rachel Nicol led the SMU women's swimming program on night one of the Austin Grand Prix Thursday evening at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Lindborg represented the Mustangs in the 100-meter freestyle, while Nicol competed in the 200-meter breaststroke.

Lindborg, who was named the American Athletic Conference's swimmer of the week on Tuesday, clocked in at 56.42 to finish eighth in the 100-free. In the 200-breast, Nicol finished in 2:31.97 to earn the same finish.

Sophomore Kirsty McLauchlan competed in the 'B' Final of the 200-breast improving on her 2:35.54 mark in prelims posting a 2:34.46. McLauchlan earned a sixth place finish in the heat, and was 14th overall.

In the second round of the evening, three Mustangs competed in 'C' Finals with sophomore Marne Erasmus earning the highest finish winning the 100-meter butterfly. Erasmus clocked in at 1:01.43 for the win. Senior Isabella Arcila clocked in just .07 second behind the leader in the 100-free touching the wall in 57.07 improving on her prelim time for second place, and sophomore Tara-Lynn Nicholas swam the 15th fastest time of finals in the 200-breast at 2:34.75 placing sixth in her heat.

SMU is back in action tomorrow for day two of the Grand Prix. Events include the 400-meter individual medley, 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter backstroke, 50-meter freestyle and 800-meter freestyle relay.
