FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (SMU) - The SMU women's track and field team concluded action at the competitive Tyson Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas, on Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Holly Archer headlined SMU's weekend, winning the 3,000-meter run (9:31.56) and adding a fourth-place finish in the mile (4:48.37).
Karoline Skatteboe and Caitlin Keen also competed in both events. Skatteboe grabbed the bronze in the 3,000-meter (9:32.53) and finished fifth in the mile (4:48.49), while Keen placed sixth in the 3,000-meter (9:38.54) and 15th in the mile (4:57.92).
SMU also had several top performances in the 5,000-meter. In the invitational heat, Shanoah Souza crossed the finish line fifth (17:04.83) with Melanie Stemper finishing seventh (17:08.25) and Agnes Sjöström placing ninth (17:22.06).
In the other 5,000-meter heat, Claire Trotter placed 12th (18:33.12).
Stephanie Kalu was SMU's top sprinter at the meet, placing eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.38) and 26th in the 200-meter (23.98). In the 400-meter, Rachel Scruggs finished 44th (56.00).
In the field events, freshman Isabella Marten, who has quickly emerged as one of the Mustangs' top jumpers, placed seventh in the triple jump (12.78m).
The throwing duo of Rayann Chin and Tochi Nlemchi had another fine weekend, as Chin finished 18th in the weight throw (18.11m) and 15th in the shot put (14.61m), while Nlemchi placed 11th in the shot put (14.76m).
