DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's swimming and diving team hosts a pre-conference exhibition time trial on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. CT at the Carroll ISD Aquatic Center in Southlake, Texas.

The Mustangs will compete against Oklahoma Baptist in the time trials, their final tune-up before the American Athletic Conference Championship on Feb. 18-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Saturday's meet will also serve as Senior Day, as Gabriel Andonie, Devin Burnett, Hayden Hodges, Pablo Lara Carrillo, Marshall McCann and Tyler Rauth will all be honored for their contributions to the men's swimming and diving program.

LAST MEET - #1 TEXAS / #14 ARIZONA
The SMU men's swimming and diving team lost to No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Arizona in double dual action last weekend at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Longhorns topped the Mustangs, 287-83, and Arizona won, 241-128. Freshman Christian Scherubl headlined the Mustangs' performance with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The Austria native's time is an NCAA 'B' Standard time. Scherubl also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle. Fellow freshman Bartosz Krzyzaniak registered the top individual for a Mustang behind Scherubl, touching the wall third in the 200-yard backstroke. Sam Straughan also posted a 'B' cut time, as he finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke. The junior transfer also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly. Scherubl, Krzyzaniak, Straughan and Ziga Cerkovnik led the Mustang relay teams to two second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay. The squad also finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Oklahoma Baptist (2-0) enters the weekend as the No. 1 NAIA team in the country and have the won the past three NAIA national titles. Senior freestyler and backstroker Daniel Ramirez, the 2014 NAIA Swimmer of the Year, competed in the 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships in Doha, Qatar, on Dec. 3-7, setting new Mexico national records in the 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle. Fellow senior Jarod Haynes is the reigning NAIA Diver of the Year.

MUSTANGS EARN WEEKLY HONORS
The Mustangs have earned a total of seven American Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week awards so far this season. Burnett has earned diver of the week four times, while Scherubl has been named swimmer of the week twice. Straughan has also been named swimmer of the week. Burnett and Scherubl were honored as diver and swimmer of the week on Jan. 20.

BURNETT LOOKS TO PUT FINISHING TOUCHES ON GREAT CAREER
In his senior season on the Hilltop, Devin Burnett is looking to put the finishing touches on a remarkable career. After being named The American's Diver of the Year in 2014, the Plano native has swept the diving events in dual meets versus TCU and LSU. Burnett also earned three third-place finishes at the Art Adamson Invite and three top-three finishes at the Tennessee Diving Invite. In SMU's meet vs. Texas A&M, he won the three-meter.

SCHERUBL MAKES SPLASH IN COLLEGIATE DEBUT
Freshman Christian Scherubl, who represented Austria at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, made his collegiate debut for the Mustangs on Jan. 3 in a dual meet versus LSU. Despite swimming in just four meets, he holds the top times in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle in The American so far this season. Nationally, the Austrian's 200 free time ranks 70th, while his 500 free time ranks 90th. Scherubl earned the only victory for the Mustangs in a double dual versus Arizona and Texas, winning the 200 free.

TRANSFER OFF TO A 'STRAUGHAN' START
Junior Sam Straughan transferred to SMU this season from Maidenhead University in the United Kingdom. In his first meet as a Mustang, Straughan won both the 100 back and 100 fly vs. TCU. Straughan's time of 48.13 in the 100 back is an NCAA 'B' Standard time and is not only the fastest time in The American this season, but is the 59th-fastest time in the country.

'HOLLOWAY' TO THE TOP
Junior Eastman Holloway placed seventh in the 1,000-yard freestyle in the double dual versus Arizona and Texas with a new personal-best time of 9:21.04. The Tulsa native's time is also second best in The American this season and is the 81st-fastest time in the country.

SINNOTT SEEKS 17th CONFERENCE TITLE
Head Coach Eddie Sinnott is seeking his 17th conference championship. Sinnott, who captured the conference title 16 times in his first 17 seasons, is looking to get back to his winning ways after placing second last year in The American's inaugural season. Sinnott has also been named conference coach of the year 16 times.
