DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU women's golf team was selected into the 2015 NCAA Regional in St. George, Utah, the NCAA Women's Golf Selection Committee announced Monday on the Golf Channel. The Mustangs open the three-day regional on May 7 at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.
"We are very excited to extend our season," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "We plan on taking full advantage of this opportunity and play great golf. I have coached at Entrada before and I think it fits our team perfectly. We hit fairways and greens while making good decisions."
The Mustangs are making their third consecutive trip to the postseason under Sutherland. The team has seven bids in program history.
72 teams and 24 individuals earned bids into one of the four NCAA Regional sites on Monday. The top six teams and top three individuals (from non-qualifying teams) advance from a regional to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships. The 2015 Championship will take place at Concessions Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, on May 22-27.
The Mustangs are seeking their first NCAA Championship appearances since 1992.
"We have played into the postseason for three straight years," Sutherland said. "We do not want to take this for granted. We will begin to prepare immediately so we can take the next step and advance to the NCAA Finals."
