SMU Heading To Midland For The Racquet Club Invitational

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team is sending four players to the Racquet Club Invitational in Midland, Texas. The event starts Friday and goes through Sunday
Juniors Markus Kerner and Julio Olaya, sophomore Charles Nettlefold and freshman Markus Knutzon will participate in singles and doubles matches. The doubles pairs will be Kerner with Knutzon and Nettlefold with Olaya. All four student-athletes will be making their 2015-16 season debuts.
Last season, Kerner registered a 15-13 singles record and a 10-9 doubles mark. The Estonia native reached a season-high doubles ranking of No. 55 with partner Arturs Kazijevs on April 14. Olaya recorded an impressive 17-5, (9-4 singles, 8-1 doubles) combined record last year as well as winning his first eight singles matches.
In his first collegiate season, Nettlefold posted an 11-8 singles record and went 2-2 in doubles play. Knutzon will take part in his first ever collegiate competition when the Mustangs head to Midland.
